Jenna Dubin Talks About Campus Activities Board

Jenna Dubin, Sophomore, tells the Collegiate Review what it is like being the President of Campus Activities Board (CAB). This club is a student-run organization that helps create and hold events and activities on the Penn State Altoona campus. It is a creative outlet for the students to interact with each other and people of the community through campus programming. They have held events before such as Easter egg hunts, pond walks, family weekends, and many more.

Dubin talks about the highs and lows that she has come across while being the President of this organization. “We had some problems recently because we were doing the egg hunt event and people got to them early…by ten o’clock that night all the eggs were captured. Next year we have some different plans of how we are going to do it differently so that everyone has more chances to capture eggs and receive prizes.” One thing that Jenna talked about that always goes well is the bingo event they hold. Jenna stated, “I think one of the big events that is always a hit would be the Bingo event. There are a lot of prizes to be won and last year we had a fun surprise for everyone that played that really made it fun for everyone.”

Jenna further explains the great characteristics and traits that being a part of the Campus Activities Board can teach you. Dubin stated, “You learn a lot about time management skills, communication skills, and leadership skills. When working with a group of people you use those skills every time you meet with each other and I think that it could be important and useful for everybody.”

Although the executive board application submissions are closed, Jenna strongly encourages people to come join the team as a committee member. To see what you can look forward to be doing, CAB will be holding events at the Altoona campus the last weekend of April including events such as: Campus Spa, Anime Night with D6, Bingo, Flower Pot Decorating, and more during this month of April.
