Four student-athletes from Penn State Altoona were nominated for the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Player of the Week. Although they were not selected this week, their accomplishments for Penn State Altoona’s sports programs are worth mentioning.
Women’s Volleyball: Junior setter and right-side hitter Emily Bryan racked up 15 kills, 40 assists, 27 digs, and two blocks while totaling 18 points this past week of Sept. 4-9. Bryan exceeded the 1,000 assists mark for her collegiate career.
Women’s Soccer Offensive: Midfielder Amanda Ayers has been a key asset to the Lady Lions’ in her freshman season. Ayers scored the game-winning goal against Bethany College on Sept. 7 to seal the 2-0 victory. She totaled six shots, including four shots on goal.
Women’s Soccer Defensive: Goalkeeper Riley Barrett has not allowed a goal yet this season. Barrett played 135 scoreless minutes in goal the week of Sept. 4-9. She made 11 saves, and posted one shutout win.
Women’s Tennis: Junior Victoria Acker had a perfect weekend, helping Lady Lions’ tennis program to a pair of AMCC wins. Acker defeated D’Youville in both singles (6-2, 6-0) and doubles (8-5) on Saturday, Sept. 8. She repeated double wins on Sunday, Sept. 9, with victory over Medaille in singles (8-4, 3-6, 7-6) and doubles (10-4).
