Help Save the Earth with These Environmental Friendly Tips

I listed some daily tips that I have gathered over time and applied to my daily life. Some of these tips may be so helpful or interesting to you that you can apply them to your daily life, while saving the environment too!

  1. Have dirty laundry? Use cold water when doing laundry and hang dry your laundry on a clothesline. Using cold also reduces the fading of clothing and shrinking.
  2. Love cute trendy bags? Use reusable shopping bags when shopping. Some cities like Los Angeles already make customers pay for each plastic bag used in grocery stores plus the bags are heavy duty so that they can also be reusable as well!
  3. Save the turtles! Don’t use plastic straws, instead use metal straws or any kind of reusable straw.
  4.  Everyone needs some light, try and use energy-efficient light bulbs!
  5. If you’re a coffee lover, try bringing in a reusable cup. Not only are they super cute, but they help out the environment.
  6. Like to cook at home? Invest in cast-iron pans. They are free of harmful chemicals, that are found in other pans. Plus cast-iron pans last a very long time.
  7. Love popcorn? Microwavable popcorn bags have bad chemicals in the packaging that are harmful for you and the earth. Try popping popcorn on the stove with the pan instead, plus I think it tastes better.
  8. Got beef? It can take about 2,500 gallons of water to produce only one pound of beef, try having at least one or two vegetarian meals a week.
  9. Make a pawprint in the right direction! The beef industry has a huge impact on the environment in so many different ways, choose pet food with different protein sources. “Pet food consumption releases up to 64 millions of carbon dioxide in a single year.” – Time Magazine
  10.  It’s time to take out the takeout boxes! When going out to eat, instead of using a non-reusable to go box, try to bring your own to-go container to avoid waste.
  11. Smoke a lot? Replace hand lighters with box matches and or buy a refillable lighter. About 1.5 billion plastic lighters end up in landfills every single year.
  12. Love doing makeup? When wearing makeup it is inevitable that you will eventually have to remove the makeup. Instead of using cotton pads or makeup remover wipes invest in some reusable makeup remover pads that can be found at Target and retail for about $9.99.
