The play The 39 Steps, adapted by Patrick Barlow, will be performed in the Paul R. and Margery Wolf Kuhn Theatre of the Misciagna Family Center for Performing Arts. Performances are March 26 – 27 at 7:30 p.m. and March 28 at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 for Penn State Altoona students and $7 general admission. Children under 12 are free.

The 39 Steps combines murder and mayhem with wacky romantic comedy. It is the 1930s in London, and Richard Hannay’s life is upended when he meets an alluring woman with a gun and a secret. He takes her home, but things do not turn out the way he had hoped. Suddenly, he is on the run, pursued by two mysterious goons and the police.

Barlow states, “This version of The 39 Steps is based on John Buchan’s ground-breaking novel, Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic movie, and the idea of two Northern England writers Nobby Dimon and Simon Corble. It’s an entire movie on stage, complete with train chases, plane crashes, shadowy murders, beautiful spies, dastardly villains with little fingers missing, not to mention some of the most iconic moments in the history of cinema.”
