Supervised by: Engineering Manager

Basic Qualifications

Education/Training: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering. PE or EIT certification preferred but not required

Experience: Minimum three (3) years of experience in manufacturing with a focus in railroad industry (rail car and locomotive knowledge preferred) including repairs and new designs.

General Responsibilities

Responsible for creating new and modifying existing engineering documentation for Curry Rail product lines. This consists of service in rail car and locomotive bodies and components. Responsibilities to include bill of materials or other supporting documentation to meet design and customer requirements per American Association of Railroads.

 

 

Essential Duties

 

1. Performs a variety of duties to support the engineering team as follows:

 

a. Interpret customer specifications and sales orders to complete an engineering package of drawings and bill of materials for manufacturing.

b. Support the manufacturing of product by providing guidance as required.

c. Develop new product to meet sales, safety, and regulatory requirements.

d. Support manufacturing initiatives to provide customers with products that meet or exceed customer requirements while improving internal metrics.

 

2. Abides by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the work place.

 

3. Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the company’s compliance with all regulatory requirements.

 

4. Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compiles information as necessary or as directed and provides data to appropriate personnel.

 

5. Responds to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from customers, other personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.

Essential Skills

1. Familiarity with standard engineering terms and practices

2. Solidworks or equivalent 3D design software, including Finite element analysis (FEA)

3. Knowledge of manufacturing procedures and processes

4. Superior computer skills & the ability to maintain technical documentation

5. Familiarity with product liability practices and associated design documentation

6. The ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and deliver on schedule
