CSX Technology Internship Program – Signals

Summary:

CSX Technology is seeking interns for a 12+ week immersion into our organization. Individuals will complete challenging assignments in a collaborative team environment directly contributing to innovation, transformation, and delivery of corporate results. Our internships provide an opportunity for candidates to preview full-time opportunities at CSX, gain practical experience, and build professional networks.

Primary Activities and Responsibilities:  

Interns will be placed with a technology team based on their skills, aspirations, and active company initiatives. Possible teams include: Applications Development (Java and Angular web development), Data Science & Analytics, Cybersecurity, Agile Delivery, Software Infrastructure (including Automation and Cloud), User Experience, IT Operations, Integrations/API, Project Management, Robotics/Drones, GIS, Field Infrastructure, and Service Support.

Regardless of team placement, all technology interns play an important role in advancing and delivering Technology initiatives. The expectations of these compensated positions include, but are not limited to:  

  • Active contribution in a dynamic, agile team environment
  • Adherence to best practices for developing and maintaining secure systems
  • Root-cause analysis to iterate improvement and increase reliability and efficiency
  • Engagement across teams and stakeholders, to ensure shared understanding and value delivery
 

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related major field of study from an accredited institution.
  • Cumulative minimum GPA of 3.0 (based on a 4-point scale)

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.3 (based on a 4-point scale)

Knowledge and Skills:  

  • Knowledge of web (angular/java) programming concepts and technologies
  • Knowledge of relational and/or graph database concepts and functions
  • Knowledge of Agile, DEVOPS, cybersecurity, and integration practices and concepts
  • Knowledge of hardware, desktop, network, and field infrastructure components
  • Strong collaboration, communication, interpersonal, and influence skills
  • Problem-solving, analysis, organizational, and time management skills

Job Requirements:  

  • Communicate effectively and professionally with peers, leadership, stakeholder audiences
  • Work within established deadlines
  • Willing and able to work days and hours as assigned
  • Successfully complete a background check and drug test

Environmental Conditions:

  • Work inside an office environment
