Bootcamp

Penn State Altoona offers a Business Bootcamp each year that is open to entrepreneurs in all stages of development. The camp provides resources and education to help turn ideas into successful businesses.

The nine-week class helps entrepreneurs become business-ready by giving free professional support. Weekly speakers include Randy Tarpey, CPA, Ben Yeager, Esq., and Tom Seasoltz.

At the conclusion of the fall 2019 Business Bootcamp, class members participated in a 240 Pitch Contest. Participants were allowed four minutes to pitch their business concept in a Shark Tank environment to a panel of three judges, utilizing the skills and resources they gained throughout the bootcamp. The two participants who shared finalist honors were Neil Giosiosa of Last 44 Farm and Krutik Patel of Koin Keepr.  The Last 44 Farm will provide a variety of heritage breed poultry and livestock as well as seasonal, organic produce. Koin Keepr is an idea Patel has to provide an easier and more convenient round-up service like Acorn but for cash transactions.  All participants received valuable feedback from the judges’ panel on how to move forward with their business ideas and plans.
