Most of my blogs have been explaining the different conversations I have had around the world, but today I want to give you guys some advice on how you can venture around the world and have your own conversations. Last week I talked a little bit about hostels, and I think they provide the perfect opportunity to any interested travelers because they are not expensive and they foster a very friendly environment, making it easy to meet other travelers. Typically, at a hostel you rent one bed in a dormitory and you share a kitchen and lounge with other people staying at the hostel. Last summer, I spent two weeks traveling around Europe and I stayed in 5 different hostels. All the hostels I stayed at were very cool and I would recommend them to future travelers. I found all the hostels on hostel world, this website provides a good description of the hostel and you can read reviews from people who previously stayed at them.
The first hostel I stayed at was in Frankfurt, The Frankfurt Hostel. This hostel had a very nice location, right next to the train station and it was near a lot of cute restaurants. The Frankfurt Hostel also offered a free pasta dinner every night and a 3-euro breakfast buffet. If you ever travel through Europe it is important to remember how many days you are spending in a certain city because the location of the hostel is essential. My friend and I only spent one night in Frankfurt, so a hostel located next to the train station was ideal. The next hostel we stayed in was in Berlin, The Circus Hostel. This hostel was in the heart of Berlin and it was $30 a night, and it was in a very cute neighborhood near many of the tourist attractions we wanted to visit. I stayed at three hostels in Croatia: Dubrovnik, Spilt, and Hvar. Our favorite hostel was in Hvar, the Shaka Hostel, because it had a very friendly environment that made it easy to meet other people. Each night the hostel organized group activities and through these games we were able to meet people from Brazil, Argentina, and Australia. One important thing to remember about hostels is they do not provide you with a lock so if you are nervous about leaving your belongings out in a room with other strangers, you should bring a lock. I have many amazing memories from staying in different hostels and if you are interested in traveling, you should investigate staying at a hostel.
