Hey guys, welcome back to my more relavent blog during these crazy quarantine times. Now that all of us will be at home for the rest of the semester, this gives us lots of time to catch up on some good films. You might be asking yourself, what movie should I watch to escape the craziness of my family. Good thing I have some recommendations. The first two films I want to discuss I talked about in a previous blogs because they both won awards in the oscars this year, Jojo Rabbit and Parasite.
Jojo Rabbit is a very entertaining film, it is one of those movies that will give you feelings of joy, despair, and hope all throughout the movie. It is an intense movie taking place in WW11, but with lots of comedic relief. The second movie I watched won best picture, Parasite. This movie is more of a thriller. I love both of these films because they are original and they provide many different interesting ideas to talk about while in quarantine.
I also want to talk about some not as recent movies, but my favorite movies. One of my favorite movies, Goodwill Hunting, won best original screenplay in 1998. This is, in my opinion, a must see film. I have seen this movie countless times, it is another film that offers a rollercoaster of emotions throughout the film, but it is more light hearted. A fun and uplifting movie to watch while indoors is Almost Famous. This is another one of my favorites. Almost Famous won best original screenplay in 2001. This movie also has a great soundtrack.
One random film I want to talk about is My Life as a Zucchini. This movie won best animated film in 2017, and it is also on Netflix. My Life as a Zucchini uses my favorite type of animation, claymation. It is an animated film, but it covers intense topics in relation to family life and the struggles of growing up. This film also puts different ideas into perspective and reminds the viewer to be thankful for people or moments within our lives because all of it is temporary. I think it is an important time to watch movies that give us insight into the minds and emotions of others. Maybe you could even make your own short film.
Those are some of the films I plan on re-watching over the course of this semester, and if you have any movies you recommend please let me know in the comments.
