Process Improvement – What is it?

Sometimes when working on a project, whether it be at work or home, you might have thought to yourself there must be a better way to do this. Becauase of this you switched up your process by adding or removing a few steps, in turn making the project easier; this is what is known as process improvement. Everyone, knowingly or unknowingly, has done some sort of process improvement in their life.

Process improvement is “the practice of finding ways to make existing processes faster, more accurate, more efficient, and more reliable” (Corona, 2023). Process improvement is imbedded so deep into business culture that you can find step by step guides on how to implement it into your project just by using a google search. Some might wonder what is the benefit of improving a process that already works. There are numerous benefits to approaching a project and working to improve the process that is used to complete;

  • Easier Communication
  • Decreasing the time the project takes.
  • Help in identifing errors within a process.
  • The potential to save you or the company money.
