Professional Positions

Reference and Instruction Librarian (Associate Librarian), Penn State New Kensington.
(June 2007 – Present).


Primary Responsibilities:

Provide reference and course related instruction at a small campus (approximately 700 students) within the Pennsylvania State University system to faculty, students, staff and members of the public. Support courses in General Education, and degree granting programs. Reference is provided both virtually and in-person.  

Liaise with faculty in order to create dynamic partnerships which provide students with appropriate learning opportunities.  Provide course related instruction for various disciplines, and when possible create opportunities for scaffolded learning. Serve as embedded librarian each year, providing in-depth learning opportunities for students.  

Support the mission of the University Libraries of Penn State University, through committee service.  Serve as an active member of the Penn State New Kensington community, serving on appropriate committees and participating in activities like New Student Orientation.  

Promote library collections to students, faculty and staff, adapting local collections to the needs of our programs and courses through collection development.  Collections circulate throughout the entire Penn State University system, so a holistic and local approach is considered the development of our collection.  

Program Officer, Council for the International Exchange of Scholars.
(February 2001 – August 2005).

CIES administers the Fulbright Scholar Program, an academic exchange program for U.S. and International scholars, funded by the Department of State.  In various positions, I worked to match U.S. scholars on short term exchanges and administer grants for International scholars from the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia, in addition to Central Asia and Europe.
