While writing my “This I Believe” assignment, I found it very easy to come up with broad topics that I believed in, which could have given me a good story to tell but it may not have been as detailed. The practice of diving deeper into what we believe and pulling out more specific beliefs from our broader concepts helped me when trying to think of a story to write along with it. I thought it was an enlightening assignment to have to connect your belief to a story. Although people tell stories/summaries of their lives almost every day, it is still important to practice storytelling and be able to dive deeper into conveying certain details. I truly believe this assignment helped me gain more practice in being able to provide vivid details but also in a way that allows me to pick apart the more important details of the story.
Angelina, I liked your story and how you explained what friendship meant to you. I found it so crazy that your so-called “friend” excluded you from the group chat with the new student. You would think that over time a long-lasting friendship was built and stored, but the little petty and mean things she did weren’t proving that. Overall, I loved your message and “I believe” statement. I think that finally realizing to maintain a distance and to let go of your ex-best friend was a great / bold decision that really hit your overall message. Great job!
Great job!
I really enjoyed your voice thread! I love how friendships was your topic because alot of bad things happen with friendships especially how you conveyed it in your story!
Hi Angelina! I can totally feel you because I used to have similar experiences. It must feel so bad to be excluded from a group of “friends” that you take them seriously with. I know it’s hard to alienate or even stop communicating with someone you used to play so well with, but their behavior had already proven that they don’t deserve to be your friend, and it’s wise to stop the relationship instead of keep losing time on them. I like your podcast so much and that’s really good job!
