Hello! I am Ankolika!

I am a second year PhD student in the College of Information Sciences and Technology, at Penn State, under the advisement of Dr. Kelley Cotter. I am interested in investigating how changing technologies impact historically marginalized communities. While proficient in computational and quantitative methods, I primarily use qualitative and participatory methods to evaluate how fast-changing information infrastructures impact those who use such structures for empowerment. My work has been accepted in HCI, Computing and Communication venues such as CHI, ICA, and journals like New Media and Society.

Before coming to Penn State, I completed my Undergraduate degree in Computer Science from City University of Hong Kong, and graduated with first class honors.

I am also a part of Natya Penn State’s only competitive classical dance team- and am an avid dancer, versed in Bharatanatyam. In my free time, I like reading, cooking and travelling.
