Wilmington, North Carolina

I am so very excited! I thought that I would not be able to go on vacation at all this summer but it looks like I will get to go on vacation almost right after I go back home after finals! The rest of my family is vaccinated except for me and I will make sure to have gotten it and have had time for it to be effective before traveling. My mother is a vendor oversight nuclear engineer and even during the pandemic it has been necessary for her to travel. Over the past couple of months, as she is now vaccinated, she has been traveling even more. She doesn’t really like it much as she is not able to spend much time with our family and only really gets to visit every other weekend. So for one of her next trips we are going to go with her!

We are going to Wilmington, North Carolina. Wilmington is a port city in coastal southeastern North Carolina. I did some research on places I would like to visit and restaurants I can’t wait to try.

The Riverwalk

Wilmington’s boardwalk, known as the Riverwalk as it borders Cape Fear River, is a nearly-two mile scenic boardwalk along with access to downtown as well as many shops and cafés along the route. As a community boardwalk, the Riverwalk is open 24/7, with no charge to stroll along this serene stretch of Wilmington’s waterfront.

Restaurants

Fresh Seafood & Seafood Restaurants in Wilmington, N.C.

I am a huge fan of seafood so I am really excited to try some of Wilmington’s best seafood restaurants. From my research some of the best seafood restaurants in Wilmington include Cape Fear Seafood Company, The Pilot House, and Hieronymus Seafood Restaurant and Oyster Bar. However, looking through the photos of the type of restaurant foods and they seem like very garnished, very small plates. I mean quality over quantity but really. I bet we will find some good restaurants here. My favorite seafood dish since I was little is mussels with pasta in a white wine sauce. I hope one of the restaurants has something similar.

Kure Beach

Lastly, if not most importantly, the beaches. I hope the water is not too cold when I am visiting because I’d really like to visit Kure Beach. Kure Beach is about 15 miles south of Wilmington which is not too far and it is absolutely gorgeous.

I can’t wait to visit Wilmington! If you’ve been to Wilmington and have any ideas, please let me know in the comments below. Thanks for reading!
