I really liked the templates that were included in WIX. As someone who is not very good at coming up with templates myself, I think that that feature will definitely be helpful for me in developing the aesthetic of my e-portfolio. According to the comparison website, WIX is probably my best bet because it is so beginner-friendly and I am certainly not a tech-savvy type of person. I also just really liked the portfolio examples that used WIX. I decided that I didn’t want to use WordPress because of the problem with the website going away after graduating. That’s especially important to me because I see my portfolio as career-oriented so it might be nice to have in the long run. On that note, I’ve decided to use WIX for my portfolio.
Right now, I think my purpose and audience might have to do with applying to internships in the field of education or child psychology.
For my tabs, I’m thinking of including a home where I talk about my educational and personal background. I also liked the idea of including my résumé because I think it makes sense for my audience. In the other example we looked at, I also liked the use of an extracurricular tab where I could lay out things that I am currently involved in and passionate about.
I’ve been thinking of which artifacts to include in my portfolio, and so far I have a few in mind. Education equity has been a big theme across the work I’ve done this year so I think that those pieces connect well (deliberation, civic issues blog, issue brief, advocacy project). Those artifacts would also fit in with my purpose and audience pretty nicely.
Anna it sounds like you have a pretty good idea of the direction you want to take with this project! I am also not a very tech savvy person and Wix definitely sounded like the easier option in terms of operation. I also agree I don’t want to loose editing rights with wordpress, that is kind of depressing:(( I liked your ideas with your tabs and including your resume. If you are interested in an education career and have to student teach this could help you get that position in the future! I honestly think all your blogs and projects were great and would fit well as an artifact. You could even include a passion blog because you taught us how to cook:) Overall I am excited to see how it turns out!!
I completely agree with you about WIX being the almost “dummy-proof” option! I think it is definitely smart to go with Wix instead of WordPress if you are planning to use the site in your future career. I love your ideas of including your resume as well as your personal/educational background. I think that with your theme of education equity, you will be able to pull on a lot of the assignments we have done this past semester. You seem to have a pretty good idea about what you want your portfolio to look like and how you want it to be used moving forward. With that being said, I am really excited to see how it turns out and the specific artifacts that you use!
Hi Anna,
I liked everything that you had mentioned for your E-portfolio. I also agree that “wix” is the east option, I mean I know for sure that I struggle with technology and this for sure sounds the easiest to operate. I loved how you talked about incorporating your resume, I think that is very thoughtful idea. I actually didn’t really think about that, and I think that is actually fantastic for also helping your showcase your skills and or work. I am so excited to see the final project! As always you did a great job!
