Like everyone, I’ve had unexpected twists in my academic plotline since March 2020. My personal plotline also thickened in the form of family and health events during that same time (also like it has for everyone). And like everyone, I have hopes for new ways going forward as a teacher, scholar, mentor, and colleague– some which are coming to be, and others which seem not to have changed much of all. I don’t like the idea of “new normal” or of “back to normal;” I’d rather not accept “normal” unless it’s something we’ve reflected on and structured with some intention.
All of that said, here are some academic doings from the past two years as well as some I’m excited about in the near- and mid-future:
- Just published! Chapter written with Dr. Ceridwen Owen in new book Reconstructing Care in Teacher Education After Covid-19.
- Our Antiracist ELA Teachers Critical Reading Group had a great series and plans for more to come in 22-23.
- I am wrapping up a much-needed sabbatical and have refreshed my writing energy in new and needed ways.
I’m not QUITE ready to jump into fall teaching, but I can see it down the lane and know it will be much changed. It shouldn’t take a pandemic, though.
