Let Geno Cook!
Game of the Week
While we still have the NFC West match-up of the Rams and 49ers, I am going to give this game of the week to the Seattle Seahawks taking the win over the Detroit Lions. This game was a complete offensive assault as the final score was 48 to 45 with a combined total of 11 touchdowns. Geno Smith led the Seahawks with 320 passing yards for 2 touchdowns and rushed for 49 yards for 1 touchdown. His main target was DK Metcalf as he caught 7 receptions for 149 yards. While DK was the main target, Geno showed love to all of his targets on the field as he threw to 8 different receivers throughout the game. Not only was the passing game excellent, but Rashad Penny led the rushing game with 151 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Lions played just as well while Jared Goff led the offense with 378 yards for 4 touchdowns and 1 interception. Lion’s tight end, T.J. Hockenson led the receiving core with 8 receptions, 179 yards, and 2 touchdowns. Jamal Williams is proving to be a stud as he led the rushing game with 19 carries for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns. The Lions may have scored more touchdowns but the Seahawks outscored them in special teams to take the lead and win the game. While I may be biased as a Seahawks fan, this was one of the most energetic and exciting games this season.
Week 5 Predictions
While there are many matchups to come in week 5, here is what I think will be the top three games to watch.
Cowboys vs. Rams
Both of these teams have been struggling to live up to the hype they received in the postseason but they both show that they could be promising teams. The Rams are coming off a Superbowl win but they have not shown to be as dominant as they should be. The Cowboys came off a very good season last year and showed that they have some stars who can truly perform on the team. I believe that whoever wins this game will make a statement and turn their seasons around. The Cowboys may have a very good defense but I think that the Ram’s offense will be too much to handle and will take the win.
Bengals vs. Ravens
These teams are scary on offense. Joe Burrow is finally showing that he is the same quarterback as last season and his main receivers, Ja’marr Chase and Tee Higgens, have shown to be some of the top-tier receivers in the league. Raven’s quarterback, Lamar Jackson is showing that he is just as good as ever in both the passing and rushing game as he commands the offense. Mark Andrews has been balling out this season as he is making a case for debatably the best tight end in the league this year. I think that this game is going to come down to the wire but in the end, the Bengals will take home the win.
Steelers vs. Bills
Most people would just say the Bills would win due to their elite offense but I think this game is going to be a lot closer than most would think. In the Steelers vs Jets, we got to see rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett take some snaps and he looked amazing. This could be an absolute game-changer for the Stealers as their main problem was their quarterback position. As long as Pickett starts as quarterback, I think that the Stealers could pull off the upset and beat the Buffalo Bills.
Upcoming Players
Every season, we see young players start to bloom and become monsters on the field. Here are three players that we gotta watch out for.
Jamaal Williams
This man is a problem on the ground. Despite fighting for a starting spot through the first few games, he has 276 yards for 6 touchdowns. If you get in the endzone you have to give this guy the ball. Now that he has earned the starting running back spot, we are likely to see these stats only get better.
Dameon Pierce
While Pierce has been playing average for the first 3 games, he proved he is the leader of the Texan’s offense in week 4. With a team that is lacking pretty much everything, you need that one player to stand out Pierce is proving to be that player. In week 4, he had 14 carries for 131 yards where he averaged 9.4 yards a carry. This game proved Pierce could be great and the coaching staff is more likely to use him going forward.
Jahan Dotson
While I may be a little bit biased as a Penn State student, Dotson is showing to be a real threat on the field. Through 4 games, Dotson has 12 catches for 152 yards, as a rookie! He is averaging 12.7 yards a catch in an offense with 2 other great receivers. If he keeps playing like this, we are watching a potential candidate for Rookie of the Year.
Great article, although your predictions didn’t quite pan out, I like your pick for players to watch out for. I like how you mention being impartial or bias and it allows for the reader to get an authentic and honest sports take.
