As the semester ends, so does my opportunity to vent about Disney to you. Though a bittersweet moment, I believe you will all find new and excellent ways to spend your time–even if it doesn’t quite measure up to this blog. Just kidding! I think we’re all looking forward to exploring other interests after diving so deep into our blog topics this semester.
So, what does this self-proclaimed Disney adult plan to do with their free time next semester and beyond? I’m so glad you asked.

Ever since I was a little kid, I have loved to write. Over the last several years, writing has become an even bigger part of my life. In quarantine, I decided to write a novel throughout high school. I didn’t know it then, but that decision would be one of the best of my life. I took on so much for it: planning my plot meticulously, creating character profiles, writing over 300K words for my drafts, researching publishing routes, designing potential covers, and more. It was an insane amount of work, but now I can look at it and trace my personal growth through its creation. From Freshman to Senior year, I cared about this project despite everything life threw at me. It’s grounding to think about.
Since starting college, I’ve had almost no free time to write. At least for me, not writing for that long takes a toll. I need a better creative outlet than I currently have, so I plan to continue my next novel over Thanksgiving break and beyond.
If you haven’t given creative writing a shot before, you should. Whether it’s poetry, short stories, songs, or a full-length novel, you will learn and grow so much if you decide to go on a writing journey. You will finally give more thought to the deep-seated questions that float through your mind. You will have the chance to create a whole world of your own, just living on paper. You will discover what drives you. You will see life more vibrantly than you did before.
It sounds a little bit crazy, but it’s true (at least for me). Giving a voice to your creativity is invaluable. Once you start to do it more often, inspiration jumps out at you everywhere. Because I haven’t been writing recently, I haven’t experienced that like I did before. I miss it.
That’s why my “next thing” is something I already spent so much of my life doing: I love it. And I can’t wait to start a whole new time capsule of a project. Maybe this time, I can look at my next book when I graduate in 2028.
I loved your blog this week. It was so interesting to hear about your passion for writing. I hope that you can get back into a writing groove when you go home for break!
I love writing to, the thought of creating a whole world that is entirely your own creation is such a wonderful thing. Also three hundred thousand words is more words than I think I’ve written ever.
Wow thats crazy dedication, 300k words is a lot. I think thats really cool that writing has been such a monumental aspect in your life. What are you planning to write about for your next book?
WOW! 300k words is a lot and I am ready to faint when I have to write a paper over 2,000 words. I am happy to see the joy that writing has taught you and hope you can continue this hobby.
