Welcome to the last civic issues blog post! I am glad you are here, and I’m also glad I’m here; that means I am writing my last one. Opposite to the Passion Posts that I love, as I said, these were quite hard, and it took me a lot of time to do them. Although I don’t love them, I am glad I got a platform to educate others on a particular topic I care about. That being said, let’s get right into our last and final civic issues blog post. Last but certainly not least, we have Gender Discrimination

Gender discrimination is when an individual is treated unfairly or unfavorably based on gender or gender identity. It takes many forms, including employment, education, and social interaction. This is a significant problem in society today. It is illegal and can have severe impacts on the individual being discriminated against and on society as a whole.

One of the most prevalent examples of this discrimination is in the workplace, where women are often paid less than men. This is often known as the gender pay gap, and it’s a problem not only in the US but worldwide. In the US, women earn approximately 82 cents for every dollar men earn. This inequality is even more significant in women of color, who earn less than white women. This pay gap deprives women of financial security and devalues their contributions to the workforce.

Another example of workplace discrimination is in hiring and promotion practices. Women are often passed over for job opportunities or promotions based on stereotypes related to their gender.

Gender discrimination can also take the form of violence against women. These include sexual harassment and assault. According to the World Health Organization, one in three women worldwide has experienced physical or sexual violence. This violence not only harms women but also keeps alive gender inequality and contributes to a culture of fear and intimidation.

This discrimination is wrong for multiple reasons. It violates human rights and undermines the fundamental principle of equality, it deprives individuals of opportunities, resources, and experiences based on unjust criteria, and last, but not least, it keeps alive social inequality and contributes to a culture of misogyny and patriarchy that harms both men and women.

In conclusion, gender discrimination is a prevalent problem that affects individuals in various aspects of their lives. It is profoundly harmful and undermines the principles of equality and human dignity. Gender discrimination and all types of discrimination must be actively challenged and eradicated through policies, education, and cultural change to create a more just and equitable society for all.

Gender discrimination is certainly a disparity that needs to be addressed. The pay gap certainly illustrates this, and the lack of government help and regulation is appalling. The statistics you displayed are important and pertinent to the the issue and the post is definitely organized well.
