Interesting Trees
This morning while working on a surveying lab near Mont Alto hall I came across two trees in the morning sunlight. The first was this large sycamore leaning over the road.
And his lonely birch showed up across the street!
Fall Ginkgo
The fall is a great time to visit the arboretum at Penn State Mont Alto. Today while going to the IT office in Goddard Cottage I noticed the ginkgos were particularly bright in the afternoon sun. It made it worth the walk.

Hybrids and a Raintree
Five oak hybrids (X Quercus runcinata), which are a cross between shingle oak (Q. imbricaria) and northern red oak (Q. rubra) line the hill drive in front of the library. The hybrid oaks were a gift to the campus by Dr. Everett G. Logue, a dentist with a fascination for hybrid oaks. In bloom, on the right side of the picture, is a golden raintree (Koelreuteria paniculata).
