Course Policies

Attendance:

Because this is a course based on student engagement, prompt attendance is mandatory at all classes and at least six (6) departmental lectures. Each unexcused absence lowers your final grade by 5 points (out of 100). Tardiness both delays and disrupts class time. Therefore, two (2) days of tardiness count as one (1) unexcused absence. Please notify me in advance via email if you will not attend any class period, and your reason for doing so. Permission is required unless you are sick. If you will miss class because of any days of observation that you already are aware of, you must inform me before the second day of class.

Evaluation:

  • 35% Final Review
  • 25% Design Development Review
  • 15% Schematic Design Review
  • 10% Conceptual Review
  • 10% Research Book
  • 5% Corbelletti Competition

I will distribute your grades through ANGEL.

Deadlines:

Unexcused late submission = 1 lower letter grade on the submission per day. You will receive a final grade only after submitting final project documentation.

Contacting me:

I generally return emails within 24 hours during weekdays. Email within 48 hours of a deadline may not be returned. Please include Arch 533 in the Subject line of your email. If there is an urgent message, you may judiciously text me, but not after 9 pm.

Studio Use:

  • Music: The playing of music during class time is prohibited, including the use of headphones.
  • Cell Phone: The use of cell phones is 98% prohibited during class times. Please turn your phone to silent and keep it face down to minimize interruptions and distractions.
  • Eating: Please do not use class time for your main meals. Unless otherwise permitted, you must be present and available for the entire class period.
  • Location: You must be at your desk in studio for the entire class period unless you make other arrangements with Rebecca for that day only.
  • SALA Studio Policy
  • Studio Culture Policy Statement

Please contact me if you require special accommodations due to learning disabilities, religious practices, physical requirements, medical needs, or any other reason.
