Deliberation Evaluation

I think our deliberation went well, and overall, our presentation was a success. We practiced extensively beforehand, and that preparation really paid off in the execution. Our delivery was smooth, and even though we divided the presentation among different speakers, there were no awkward pauses or moments of silence. Everyone knew exactly what to say and which slides they were responsible for, which helped maintain a seamless flow throughout. Additionally, we put a lot of effort into designing clear visuals and smooth transitions so that the audience could easily follow along. Because of these elements, I believe our audience had a strong understanding of the topic we were presenting, as well as the various causes, effects, and criteria we were addressing. The clarity we achieved in our presentation not only made it more engaging but also facilitated a productive discussion during our deliberation.

Going into the deliberation, we had a clear plan for how we wanted it to unfold. We outlined the key questions we wanted to ask the class and had a general structure in mind to guide the conversation. However, one thing we didn’t fully account for was how much time we should allocate to discussing each approach and the problem itself. As a result, we ended up exceeding the required time limit. While the discussion was engaging and insightful, better time management would have helped us stay within the expected timeframe. Next time, I will make sure to be more mindful of the time and create a more structured conversation flow to ensure we adhere to the timing guidelines. Setting specific time limits for each section and keeping track of the clock will allow us to cover everything we need to without running over.

One key insight that emerged during our deliberation was that our final approach didn’t directly address the core issue we were trying to solve. Instead, it primarily focused on the organizational side of the problem rather than the scheduling conflicts that many students experience. This realization highlighted an area where we could have improved our approach. In the future, we could either refine the problem statement to better align with our proposed solution or develop an alternative approach that more directly tackles the issue. Ensuring that each approach is clearly connected to the problem will help create a stronger and more effective presentation.
