It comes across as a bit overwhelming to try to figure out what a passion of mine is, especially a passion I have that I could write about for 10 weeks or so. Many of my “passions” in life are not as note-worthy –– I was a softball player and found myself extremely passionate about that, but a softball blog does not seem too interesting to me. I do love photography, however, I am a bit shy of my work, and am not sure what I would write about. That forced me to look a bit beyond the basics of my interests. I started to look more towards the future of my interests, rather than looking back.
My first idea for my passion blog would be my bucket list blog. Each post could detail one thing I really want to have a chance to do in my lifetime. I have always considered myself a more adventurous person, so I already have a decent list of things I need to try someday: deep sea scuba diving, cage diving with sharks, and sky-diving to name a few. I feel as if writing about this would be a bit cathartic due to the current status of the world. Right now, the thoughts of adventure and travel are much less realistic –– vacationing right now is not the safest option, and many of the experiences that could be found on my bucket list are closed down. Not to mention, our world doesn’t exist much beyond our dorms. So writing about all of the things I hope to do someday could really help with the stir-craziness that Zoom U creates. Maybe, it could even be an “After Covid” Bucket List –– that way I could include smaller things as well.
My second idea for my passion blog might be a bit strange, but it really is a strong interest of mine. I have always been fascinated by true crime and serial killers. Not in a weird, obsessive way, but in form of curiosity. I grew up watching true crime shows (Criminal Minds is the best). However, my interest continued far beyond just mere entertainment purposes. I realized in high school that I was very passionate about Psychology, but I did not really have interest in becoming a therapist. So, my true crime and Psychology interests came together. I am currently pursuing a Psychology degree, and plan on either double majoring or minoring in Criminology as well. I would love a place to write about true crime cases I find interesting, and delve into the psychology of it all.
I think the true crime and serial killer idea would be a truly fascinating way to blog. i think this would be a good place to use a different literary voice.
The bucket list blog idea is very creative! It’s not only a fun topic to write about but it definitely will be an interesting read for your audience since it will get everyone looking forward to post-Covid life and maybe even inspire people to try new things as well. Your second idea is also out of the box and would be a very entertaining read as well. I think that both of your topics will captivate a large portion of the class because they are both fun reads.
