The Strange Disappearance of the Jamison Family

This story describes an extremely odd case of an entire family going missing.  I’ll detail the case and then some theories so you can decide what you think happened!

So, the Jamison Family consists of the dad –– Bobby Jamison (44), the mom –– Sherilynn (40), and the daughter –– Madison (6).

In October 2009 the family purchased a large portion of land about 30 miles away from their current residence in Eufaula, Oklahoma.  On October 8th, the family was seen packing up their truck and eventually leaving towards this new land, but was never seen again.

Eight days later, hunters found the families truck in the woods.  Near the driver side door was Bobby’s cellphone and a GPS, Sherilynn’s purse remained on the passenger side, but a bag containing $32,000 in cash was found in thee back seat.  Finally, thee family’s dog had survived in the truck for the 8 days the family was missing.  The contents of the truck indicates that the family had intentions to return to the car, but were either forced out or forced to stay away.

Search parties were called, but nothing was found.  Yet 4 years later, (November 16th, 2013) hunters found the remains of two adults and one child.  This was discovered literally 2.7 miles away from the truck, but for some reason never turned up during the search.  The bodies were then positively matched to the family, but due to missing bones/decomposition, cause of death could not be determined.

Now to the theories!

1) The family was involved in selling drugs (specifically meth).  This would have explained the large bag of cash.  Friends/family stand by the notion that the Jamisons were not drug users, however, neighbors reported the family acting strange and much more gaunt in the months before their disappearance.

2) Bobby’s father murdered the family.  Bobby was originally employed by his father and recently got into an argument.  Bobby’s father had repeatedly threatened the family’s lives, leading to the family getting a restraining order and investing in security cameras. While the father was hospitalized on the day they disappeared, he could have put a hit out on the family.

3) Cult murder.  The family had originally rented out a room to an unknown man temporarily.  The tenant was kicked out once the Jamisons found out his ties to a white nationalist group called the United Knights.  The cult had a hit list containing Sherilynn’s name, likely due to the family kicking out the tenant.  They had a meeting place that was near where the families bodies were found as well.

There are other theories, but these are the three I lean towards most.  I encourage you guys to research this case, as other theories get super crazy!

  1. I found your blog to be very interesting this week! It’s crazy that a whole family disappeared and they didn’t even find their remains until years later. The theories of how they died are all so strange to think about, especially the one about the cult.

  2. I love your blogs they are always so intriguing and I always learn something. I had never even heard of this case before, and there is definitely something strange about where they were buried, maybe they were abducted and then killed after the police stopped searching. But for me, I think it probably has something to do with the United Knights if there was a hit list with her name on it why didn’t the police do more.

  3. This is another very interesting blog post. I really like how you layed out the story and various theories. This was definitely a unique yet interesting story. I really enjoy these stories.
