Trigger warning for this week, this story includes a lot of sexual assault of minors, if this makes you uncomfortable, please feel free to skip this!! However, this week we are going to be
Aileen Wuornos was born on Feb 29th, 1956, in Fort Wayne, Michigan. Her life was almost destined to turn out bad, as her mother was only 14 when Aileen was born. Her father, 16 at the time, was never apart of Aileen’s life. Aileen and her brother were severly neglected by their mother and were soon adopted by her grandparents.
This wasn’t the happy ending Aileen needed, however, as he grandfather was a violent alcoholic who beat her and her brother. In her preteens, Aileen’s grandfather began sexually assaulting her. This led to her exchanging sexual favors for cigarettes, food, and drugs to fellow kids at school at AGE 11. At age 13, Aileen became pregnant by her grandfather’s friend and gave birth to her son on March 23rd, 1971, who was then given up for adoption (hopefully he had a happy ending). At 15, Aileen dropped out of school. Her grandma died soon after and Aileen was kicked out, quickly turning to prostitution to survive. She also eventually moved her schemes down to Florida.
Throughout the 70s and 80s, Aileen went on a crime spree and was arrested on multiple occasions for various crimes. These include multiple DUI arrests, a warrant for her failure to appear in court, an armed robbery of a gas station (in which she only stole 2 packs of cigarettes and 45 dollars, priorities right?), forging checks, resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, and robbery.
Her most infamous crimes, however, began on November 30th, 1989. Richard Mallory was shot wice after soliciting Aileen for sex. Aileen claimed self defense, but this seems very likely to be true. His body was found 2 days later (after police tracked him through his vehicle) in a wooded area in Florida. Back on her bullshit in June of 1990, Aileen killed two more people (David Spears and Charles Carskaddon).
Continuing her spree, Aileen made the mistake that would eventually lead to her final arrest. She and her one-time partner (and lover) were seen abandoning the car of Peter Slems in a wooded area. Aileen also left hand print in his car. His body was never recovered. She went on to takee 3 more victimes (Troy Burress, Charles Humphreys, and Walter Antonio).
Aileen was then picked up for outstanding warrant, where her hand print was then matched to the one found in Peter Slem’s car.
When the trials began, Aileen was deemed mentally unstable and was diagnosed with multiple personality disorder and antisocial personality disorder. Yet, she was still tried as sane and sentenced to death. She was convicted of 6 first degree murders, with a body count of 7 people in a years time frame.
A lethal injection was carried out on October 9th, 2002.

Wow I was never into criminology but I find it so intriguing that the stories you’ve been telling are someone’s reality. I was very grasped by Aileen’s story and I can’t believe its real !!!! Good job Ashley
First thing, this is the first of you passion blogs I’ve read, and the first time I learned to topic, and I love it, fantastic. The subject, that is. Not the actual events. Obviously those aren’t great. This absolutely was interesting to read about, and I had never learned about Aileen before. I look forward to reading the next blog.
Hey Ashley,
This blog entry was very intriguing, to say the least. Hearing Aileen’s story is obviously very saddening yet finding out about her troubled past was very different as well, I assume that these experiences had a very negative impact on her later on.
