Happy Late Easter to all who celebrate, and if not Easter, happy “wellness” day. My Easter weekend was celebrated with a blissful night alone in the dorms while my roommate went home (I love her to bits, but this only-child missed her alone time). I commenced in my typical alone routine: falling asleep listening to true crime Youtube videos on the TV (I know, such a party). This case came across the queue, and I couldn’t help but share to see your guys’ thoughts! Sorry in advance, it’s another cannibal case –– I don’t control the Youtube algorithm.
Armin Meiwes (please include how to or how you think to pronounce his last name, I still don’t know) was born on December 1st, 1961, in Germany. He later explained that his sexual desires and general interest in cannibalism began in adolescence.
At the age of 40 in 2001, Armin was compelled to reach out to enact his fantasies in the most respectful way possible. He posted an add on a cannibalism forum (lol love the internet) that was “looking for a normally-built 18- to 25-year-old to be slaughtered and then consumed” (I mean at least he was honest). Shit you not, someone responded. Actually, a good amount of people did. But most backed out. All, except Bernd Jürgen Armando Brandes.
Brandes agreed to travel to Armin’s home to be wined and dined, engage in some 😉 😉 activities … then eaten and killed. He also agreed for the entirety of the process of his death to be filmed, in order for Armin to re-live the event.

After Brandes arrived, Armin and him followed the planned … date? They shared dinner and engaged in birds and bees type activities. Armin, in a surprisingly (if you can call a cannibal polite) polite way, insisted Brandes consume alcohol, sleeping pills, and cough syrup, to ease the pain of the future events. Originally DECLINED, Brandes eventually agrees. Then, as strictly/strongly desired and instructed by Brandes, Armin began with his … man bits… , which the two proceeded to … share after Armin cooked/prepared it (apparently, described as “disappointingly” inedible by Armin after tasting, if you were curious).
Armin then waited (again with consent) for Brandes to bleed out through his wound in the bathtub, but after 3 hours of waiting, Armin decided to slit Brandes’ throat to quicken the process and ease Brandes’ misery. Armin proceeded to manage and save the meat for months, and was not caught until posting another add, with pictures in addition to the post, which led to police notification.
Armin’s defense at trial –– it was two CONSENTING adults engaging in only consenting activity. Technically, this is all completely true, as Brandes was completely aware and 100% game for what was goin on. Armin’s defense originally got him manslaughter (a lesser sentence). After public outcry, however, Armin was given a life sentence and is still in prison today. So, what do you guys think about this one?

This is definitely one of the weirder stories I’ve heard, especially dealing with these types of issues. As you said, the internet is a big reason why forums, posts, and behaviors like this are almost glorified as disgusting as it is.
Jesus unbelievable christ this is incredible. I mean, sure, yadda yadda, the content is a nightmare, to an absurd degree, but that really just means interesting. And horrifying, too. Absolutely horrifying. I cannot possibly imagine the insanity of the decisions either of those people made, but the fact that they were made, and by real people I MEAN GOD THIS IS REAL LIFE. I don’t have the words to express the way in which this is spectacular (again, to clarify, NOT GOOD), but it is. Also, overall, I loved the way you wrote this one. Thoroughly spectacular.
