Ted talk and brainstorm

The ted talk I chose to watch was “Can exercise actually “boost” your metabolism?” by Jen Gunter. I enjoy science topics and think about similar topics having to do with metabolism often. I really enjoy how she combats the myths and speaks in a way that is easier to understand if you aren’t an expert in the field. I also enjoy how it switches from her with good eye contact and gestures, to a more cartoon way of presenting the information. It is a good way to remain engaged.

The main idea I have brainstormed is looking into how the views on infertility have changed over the years.
I will look into it chronologically and bring up big shifts and what was done about it and how it was reacted to overall.
  1. That sounds like a very interesting TedTalk! I would also be interested in learning more about the concept of metabolism. I agree that with my talk as well, it was extremely helpful for the speaker to explain their ideas in terms that non-experts could understand, keeping the audience engaged. I don’t know about your presentation, but in my TedTalk the speaker used a lot of animated visuals which made the scientific concept much more comprehensible.

  2. I agree with Emmanuel, it seems like a very interesting TedTalk. I think that by making a fun TedTalk of something so important and studious, she was able to convince people to look into the subject that she talked about for themselves. Personally, as someone who is quite lazy when it comes to running, I think that it is great that someone went out of their way to study and prove its importance.

I think your brainstorm is one that not many people are doing/even thinking about so I’m looking forward to see what you got to say about the project.

  3. I agree with both Emmanuel and Courtney that Ted talk sounds so interesting and informative! I love that she simplified down the idea in order for all audiences to understand thats always so important and makes sure the entire audience stays interested and informed.

I think your brainstorm idea is such a good idea and you will be able to find lots of research on that, we actually have been discussing the idea of infertility in my bisc class and how it has drastically changed in more recent years due to pollution, chemicals etc. I think this would be fun to research and wicked informative!
