(5th Blog Post) Have you been bullied by someone?

Have you ever been bullied by someone? I have when I was an middle school student. I can say that is one of the worse and horrible memories in my life. I couldn’t have a normal school life. I didn’t eat school lunch. I couldn’t go to a restroom. I couldn’t even raise my head when walking. What was the reason? One day, my homeroom teacher talked about my academic performance as an example. Yes, it didn’t seem to be an issue to be a reason. I’ve experienced and I know how much bullying is

Bullying may be a common experience, but bullying toward others should not be tolerated. Some people have misperceptions about bullying such as bullying is a normal part of one’s childhood. If a child is bullied or has an experience of bullying, adults believe that a child will almost always tell adults. However, children who are bullied are likely to fear retaliation because they may think adults will not take their concerns seriously. It is our, adults’ responsibility to listen to them carefully.

Bullying can impact quality of life. It can have a lasting effect on a person’s mental health. According to the author, Cari Nierenberg, in LiveScience.com, a new study finds that children who were bullied often when they were age of 8, they were more likely to develop a psychiatric disorder that needed treatment as an adult, compared with kids who were not being bullied. It is true that there is a strong evidence that being bullied as a child can put children at higher risk for mental illnesses.

It is no wonder kids who were being bullied in the past and are being bullied at this moment can have negative impactions on their social, emotional, and psychological development. Child bullying must be taken seriously by adults, school teachers, parents, and anyone who stay closes with kids.
