  1. Interesting topic. Great post. You mentioned that emotions can affect our perception. In fact, think of a conflict scenario between two people and a bystander not involved. If both parties were to explain what had happened, you would be amazed at the different interpretations both sides make. Hence the saying “there are two sides to every story”. With this being said, it is common sense that our emotions can likely affect an eyewitness testimony. Unfortunately, the criminal justice system relies heavily on eyewitness testimony (Wells & Olson, 2003), and accuracy in eyewitness testimony can be life or death. Researchers have acknowledged the inaccuracy of the traditional 9-person lineup. Science has shown the benefits of increasing the line-up. A study done based on sizes of line-ups comparing, 9, 12, 24, & 84 concluded that enlarging the lineup reduces mistaken identification far more than it lowers correct identification of the culprit (Levi, 2007).
