Australia seemed very similar to the US when I first arrived but I was quick to learn that there are major differences.

Australia has two buttons on the toilet while the US has one lever.
Australia does not have a penny. They have a $1 coin instead of a bill. Same with $2. Each Australian bill is a different size and color. The largest money amount is the largest sized bill.
Australia does not have a Wal-Mart. The closest thing to it is a Kmart.
The drinking age is 18 so the group was able to legally drink but in the US only two of the students could. Most of us were under 21.
Australia uses kilometers per hour while the US uses miles per hour.
Australian drivers sit on the right side of the car while US drivers sit on the left side of the car.
Milo is Australia’s healthy powdered mixed drink. The US has Nesquik.
Just about every vehicle is manual while the US drives mostly automatic vehicles.
There’s a huge difference between McDonald’s drink sizes. Could this be the reason that American is fighting obesity!?
Australia pays by the liter for gas while the US pays per gallon. That means Australia gas prices are higher.
Australia has a Hungry Jack’s and the US has a Burger King. I did not get the chance to eat at one while there.
Power outlets are extremely different! They have an off/on switch!
If children are uncontrollable parents will hold their hand. In the US parents put their kids on leashes . .
Australia has a cute possum and the US has an ugly opossum.
Australia has cricket. The US has baseball.
Australian road kill is mostly kangaroo. Deer are the US’s main road kill.
Australian trucks are about half the size of the average US truck! I did not see one truck with a lift or stacks on it!
Australia drives on the opposite than the US. The middle road line is white while the US has a yellow one. Both countries have a dashed middle line for when it is ok to pass other vehicles in your lane.
Australian post boxes are red. The US has blue post boxes!
Australian beaches have very clear and clean water. I can’t say the same for most of the US beaches.
Australia has kangaroo road signs and the US has deer road signs.
Aussie’s call it the toilet, American’s call it the restroom.
