Welcome back to another set of me rambling on about some photos I took that I think look wonderful. To start off, I saw some questions about what editing software I use and the camera I use as well. Believe it or not, the main camera I use is my phone’s. It’s a Samsung S22 Ultra, and while it may feel like it weighs a ton and a half, I love it for its photo opportunities. On the editing front, the main trick I typically use is editing the brightness of the photo. I’ve noticed my phone has a habit of brightening photos when I first take them, and if I darken them, they typically match what our eyes are seeing. Now let’s go onto a fun fact, shall we? Sometimes when we watch a sunset or a sunrise, it may seem much more colorful and notable than others. This is thanks to our planet’s atmosphere. Sometimes there are small particles in the sky that cause the sun’s light to scatter and change the color we see when we look into the sky. In other words; The earth gives us a chance to see a more beautiful sun that doesn’t need us to destroy our eyes.
Let’s start off with spring. I took this photo while walking along one of the forest trails in my hometown. There is a small hike off the main trail that lets you overlook the valley (and, more typically than not, see the next borough over). At times, though, especially during the spring, you will instead get a view like this one. Though the focus I had for taking this photo wasn’t the greenery, it was the setting sun behind it that I think complimented it greatly. Now onto the, at least in my personal opinion, best season, winter.
While there might be a common opinion of seeing winter as cold and dead, I think it’s one of the best times to take photos. Snow can have a very interesting look to it, and mixed in with the right environment, it can make it look more stunning than pictures that are taken in a vibrant forest. This one, in particular, was more focused on the sunset mixed in with the winter background. This is one of the photos I remember taking exactly because of how unique it was. Two weeks before, my dad had moved into a new house, and as I went outside to let the dogs out, I caught a glimpse of this sunset. It spins back to my previous point of taking time to look up, doesn’t it? I’ve come to discover that the best photos come from opportunities that present themselves, not ones you go looking for.
I really liked how your photos shared a main subject, the sunset, while the surroundings looked completely different. The photo of the valley in the spring and of your backyard in the snow look very visually distinctive from each other, and I thought you did a good job describing some of the factors you liked in each photo. I also thought it was interesting how you explained your methods to achieve more realistic looking photos compared with what your phone initially captured. I am looking forward to seeing more pictures in the future.
I really love this post! The pictures are absolutely stunning. I think that it is so crazy that you take most of your photos on your phone camera. Do you ever find yourself missing a shot because the camera messes it up? I wouldn’t say that winter is my favorite season but I definitely feel it has some of the best sunsets and sunrises. That hike picture is really beautiful, you captured the beauty of nature very well!
This is very good! First of all, the photographs are amazing! The winter one is my favorite because of the contrast like you mentioned. I really like how you provided a background and short description about the photograph as well! Also, I really like the introduction, it was a little sarcastic which provided an informal but entertaining tone for the post. Looking forward to seeing what you do next!
