While State College is full of nation wide favorites such as Starbucks, Panera Bread, and Dunkin Donuts, State  College is also full of local businesses who love serving the Penn State and State College area community. This week I will highlight Irving’s “State College’s Finest bread and bagel bakery and cafe”.

This weekend I walked into Irving’s, State college’s local bagel shop. When I walked in, I was instantly captivated by the feel of the shop. It was very welcoming and vintage. I walked up to the counter and looked at the menu I was instantly overwhelmed with choices to choose from. Even though Irving’s specializes in bagels, there are many different varieties of bagels, sandwiches, salads, and coffee based products. After scanning the menu for a bit I settled with a large coffee and a pizza bagel. I know, it’s crazy that out of all of the options I went with pizza!

After getting my food I headed to the lower level of Irving’s. Downstairs was filled with more tables, couches, and a lounging/study area. There was a large Italian study group going on when I got there so it was cool to listen to that while I ate. Another great thing about Irving’s? Free WiFi! When cafe’s have WiFi it is an instant plus. I got to get some homework done and enjoy the great atmosphere that Irving’s had to offer.

Irving’s is a great place to go if you want to support local business and get great customer service along with amazing food. I enjoyed my visit and will definitely become a frequent eater here. I highly recommend this shop to hang out and do homework or simply chill with friends. You won’t regret it!
