Field Camp Scholarship
Started in 2013, we have a small scholarship for undergraduate women in the Geoscience department going to field camp. Awards are typically $200-400, depending on the amount raised at the Chili & Dessert Cook-off and the number of high-quality applicants. Expect announcements for how to apply in February.
Chili & Dessert Cook-off
Our annual fund raiser is to raise funds for our field camp scholarship. There are nominal fees to enter and to tastes either a dessert or a chili. It usually occurs in late February or early March.
Mentorship Program
Started in 2015, we have a program to match undergraduates in the Department of Geoscience with a graduate student mentor. The goal of this program is to provide support and encouragement to undergraduate geoscientists as they finish up their Bachelors and plan for their future. As part of this program, we also organize mixers that are focused on particular topics, such as finding an internship or applying to grad school.

K-12 Outreach
We have many opportunities to organize groups to volunteer in K-12 science outreach. If anyone knows of a particular event that needs volunteers, we encourage you to announce it at our next meeting or to email one of our officers.
Group Hikes
We organize a couple of short day hikes each semester. Past hikes have included Shingletown Gap and Mount Nittany. If you want to suggest a location, bring it up at our next meeting or email one of our officers.
Camping
We also organize weekend camping trips. In the past, we have gone to Shenandoah National Park. Currently, we are planning to have one trip at the start of each fall semester. We will announce destination and carpools by email and at the meeting in addition to posting here in the News feed.
Outdoor Activities
Depending on the interests and capabilities of our members, we have done other trips like caving or kayaking. If you have an idea or are willing to lead one of these trips, let us know!
