Extinction

Cultures that belong to smaller and more isolated peoples are at higher risk of dying. According to the Encyclopedia of World Problems & Human Potential, there are several factors that work against the continuation of smaller pockets of people with unique cultures: 

  • Environmental degradation
  • Lack of immunity to Western diseases
  • Lack of modern weapons
  • No voice in national politics
  • Uninvolved in global economy
