According to the National Library of Medicine in 2011, there are 3814 distinct cultures and subcultures across the world, a number that is certainly underestimated. Especially since racial minorities are growing in the United States population, it is more important than ever for people to become at least aware of the vast existing cultures in the world.
The existing ideology of the rest of the world is slim and uninformed for most Americans. It is heavily based on stereotypes and a loose understanding of world history that people forget about the people and traditions that exist in those regions.
