Welcome to the blog! I’m Annalise, part of the Rhetoric and Civic Life course at Penn State.

I’m an Asian-American from New Jersey majoring in economics and international politics. As such, I have a lot, and I mean a LOT, of opinions about the functions of society, people’s interactions, government, and so much more.

Outside class, I like to read, listen to music, and sleep. My diet consists mainly of matcha and coffee, especially cold brew. With the right people, I love exploring nightlife around campus and downtown.

Rhetoric and Civic Life provides an active purpose for students to learn about communication and involvement in society from several analytical levels. As a smaller discussion-based class, I’m exposed to the perspectives of my classmates throughout the year as we consider various topics.

I can expand on my own thoughts and opinions with the guidance of professors and peers through writing and public speaking. As an inquisitive person, I hope I can learn a lot from the people around me.

There are several topics I care deeply about, but most notably in my life is race and discrimination. Check out my RCL and CI threads for my views of society and my Passion thread for my analysis of race in entertainment!
