I am currently a senior at The Pennsylvania State University graduating in May 2021 with a Bachelors in Aerospace Engineering. I chose this academic path to pursue my interests in aeronautics while also having the opportunity to learn about astronautics as well. In the long term, I strive to apply my experiences and teachings to the design of aircraft.
Throughout my college career, I had the opportunity to work with many different groups of people. For example, my major allows me to work with other aerospace students, while my undergraduate research focusing on women in the engineering field allows me to explore a more psychological aspect of the engineering field. Further, I had the opportunity to study abroad in Valencia, Spain for a semester where I worked with and spent time with people from a completely different background than myself. Through this experience, I was able to not only learn from students of a different culture, but I was also able to teach them about my culture as well.
I have developed strong technical writing skills at Penn State through writing numerous technical documents including lab reports, design project reports, and research papers. Through a variety of courses offered, I have improved my ability to write clear and organized papers to effectively discuss the information at hand. Further, I have learned to construct other types of technical documents such as descriptions, instructions, and memos. A few of my favorite writing pieces I have done can be found on this E-portfolio under the “Writing Samples” tab.
I approach obstacles with a positive outlook and welcome them as learning experiences. I like to utilize my technical skills, as well as my people skills, to approach any problem I may come across. Some of the courses I have taken for my major include aeronautics, aerodynamics, aerospace structures, aerospace controls, and computational fluid dynamics. By taking a variety of aerospace classes, I have learned a variety of skills that can be applied to any future work I encounter.
