BDHHS Events
American Sign Language (ASL) is the native language of deaf people in most of North America. It has its own grammar and linguistic structure. It is NOT English.
BDHHS normally has three ASL classes a year, all of our classes are held at our agency.
We have level I, II and III for adults ages 12 and up.
In the summer we usually have a Children’s Sign Camp for ages 4-12.
In an effort to raise awareness, Berks Deaf and Hard of Hearing Services sponsors and hosts a number of events throughout the year, which can be found above.

St. John Baptist de La Salle Parish

The 4:00 pm Mass will be interpreted every 4th Saturday of the month.
The Interpreter will be on the alter and a section will be reserved in the front center of the church
for any Deaf/hard of Hearing who wish to attend.

Trinity Deaf Lutheran Church Service

Come Worship at Trinity Deaf Lutheran Church service every Sunday at 11:00 AM in the Chapel at 527 Washington St., Reading, PA 19601. You are welcome to use our free guarded parking lot (enter from 5th street across from the Abraham Lincoln Hotel parking garage). Trinity Deaf Congregation now has a PowerPoint program on a wall screen for our worship service. You can watch the interpreter and the TV screen at the same time. Pastor Rich Chaveas is our pastor and Jody Schappell is our interpreter. Following the brief Worship service, a light lunch of soup and crackers will be served in the auditorium. Fulton Theater

The Fulton Theater in Lancaster PA has certified interpreters for select performances.
For the 2016 season, ASL interpreted performances will be held on the 2nd Saturday of each Premier Series production.

Reserved seating for ASL Interpretation go on www.thefulton.org to complete an Accessibility Ticket Reservation Form.The Fulton Theatre also has Open Captioned Performances.
Open Captioned Performances:
Open captioned performances will be held on the second Saturday and third Tuesday of each Premier Series production.

Galladut Events
The Youth Programs component provides opportunities for middle and high school students to connect with each other, pursue academic challenges, and experience personal and academic development. The Youth Programs accomplish this through its regional and national Academic Bowl competitions, and national Battle of the Books competition. Also offered are summer learning experiences for high school students.
Summer Youth Camps
Our Summer Youth Camps are designed for middle and high school students up to the age of 19. Our programs provide stimulating summer learning and experiential opportunities that blend excitement, education, and enjoyment in a bilingual environment rich in cultural diversity and located just minutes away from the U.S. Capitol.
Discover Your Future:
Designed for deaf and hard of hearing students entering Grades 10-12 who want to learn more about themselves, their skills, and potential careers. Students will also explore what vibrant Washington, D.C. has to offer.
Immerse Into ASL!:
A great opportunity for deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing students entering Grades 10-12 to expand their American Sign Language (ASL) skills and learn more about Deaf culture and history. Three different course levels are offered.
Exploring the Sciences:
Designed for deaf and hard of hearing students entering Grades 9-12 who want to explore chemistry, biology, and neuroscience during the camp.
Blackbox Theatre Camp:
Designed for deaf and hard of hearing thespians entering Grades 9-12 who want to learn about the various parts of a theater production and get an opportunity to create their own production.
Got Skills?
(Middle School Leadership and Sports camp): A design-your-own camp for deaf and hard of hearing students entering Grades 6-8 who want to enhance their leadership and sports skills.
