“They all deserve it. They were kind of the drugs of society.” – Ricky Lee Green.
For my first passion blog post, I decided to keep it local to me. Also, just a little warning, some of this information is graphic; I have tried to keep it as PG as possible. I found all of the information on Ricky Lee Green in the book “The Big Book of Serial Killers volume 2 by Jack Rosewood” (Yes, I own this book, but no, I don’t think it’s weird). On December 27, 1960, Ricky Lee Green was born in Fort Worth, Texas, about an hour’s drive from where I’ve lived most of my life. Rickey Lee Green was abused by both his father and grandfather as a child. For example, his father would make Green run from the house while shooting him with a BB gun. It did not matter how fast Green ran; he would continually get pelted with the BBs.
Along with this, Green was sexually, physically, and verbally abused. His childhood is the textbook “serial killer making” childhood. In 1984, Green got married to Mary Francis, but their entire relationship was based on sex, so when the relationship turned sour after two months, Green turned to drink and assumed his wife was sleeping with other guys. One night when he came back from one of his late-night drives to “clear his mind,” he raped Francis but was so drunk that Green passed out before he could use the knife he pulled out on her, and she packed her bags and ran away. Within a couple of weeks, Green found Sharon Dollar, they hooked up and got drunk. Three days later, she asked him to move in, Green accepted. One night, Sharron pricked Greens Penis and sucked the blood away. This inspired Green to start a killing spree with Sharron to satisfy their wants.
I believe Francis would technically be Green’s first victim. He had four known victims but is suspected of raping and killing twelve people in his years. His first kill would be Jeffery Davis, a teenager who agreed to hang out with Green. Green started driving, and anytime Davis would complain, he would get a beating from Green. On their drive, Green needed to use the restroom and, upon returning to the car, saw Davis masturbating, which drove Green mad. Green pulled into a secluded area and drug Davis out of the car and beat him and mutilated his genitals, threw said genitals into the lake, and then mutilated the rest of Davis body and disposed of Davis in a different secluded area.
His next victim was in 1980, a hitchhiker who said her name was Montana. He offered to give her a ride and a shower at his place, she agreed. While she was in the shower, Green opened the door and asked if he could join, she agreed, and they proceeded to have sex. This moved to Green and Sharron’s bedroom until he had to pick up Sharron from work. They all decided to have a threesome when Green and Montana picked up Sharron. Montana’s mind changed when she saw Sharron naked, but it was too late. They tied up Montana, but when they got tired of her kicking and yelling, they took her into the bathroom, where Sharron stabbed her. Wanting to join in on the fun, Green grabbed his pocketknife and joined in. After a while, he got bored and traded his knife for a hammer, and then Sharron wanted to join in, so she took the hammer and hit Montana too. Once Montana died, the remaining two had sex on the floor where Montana’s blood was. After this, they threw her body into the car and dropped her off into a secluded spot.
Their next victim, Sandra Baily, was put through the same scenario Montana was in. The only thing different was that Green met her at a club, and the sex between Sharron and Green after Baily’s death was not as intense.
The last known victim of Green was Steven Fefferman. He met Green at a bar that Homosexuals frequented. Green agreed to go to Fefferman’s house and asked if they could take turns tying each other up; Fefferman agreed. Fefferman was tied up first, and Green pulled a knife on him and told Fefferman how much he hated Homosexuals and then repeatedly stabbed him. Fefferman was still alive, so Green decided to grab a larger knife from the kitchen and stabbed him in the throat, and then opened him up from the sternum to the scrotum. Fefferman was surprisingly still alive, so Green decided to mutilate his genitals and shove them into Fefferman’s mouth. Once Fefferman was dead, Green robbed him and went back home.
After the murders stopped, the couple frequently indulged in drugs and alcohol, and a few short years, Sharron left. In 1989 police surrounded Green’s house and arrested him for Fefferman’s murder. Green knew eventually he would be caught, but to his surprise, it was Sharon who turned him in. There was evidence from bloodstained knives, photographs, and Greens confession during the trial, so it was not hard to make sure he earned jail time. He was given life in prison and put on death row in 1986, and was killed by lethal injection in 1997; he was 36 years old. Shanon was given ten years of probation for her involvement.
The hardest part of the whole case was the horrific pictures. Reading the information can be challenging, but I can not even imagine how terrible the photos were. Rosewood said that some of the Jurors had to leave the room to throw up or get away from the pictures and information.
Green’s last words were, “I want to thank the Lord for this opportunity to get to know Him. He has shown me a lot, and He has changed me in the past two months. I have been in prison 8 1/2 years and on death row for 7, and I have not getten into any trouble. I feel like I am not a threat to society anymore. I feel like my punishment is over but my friends are now being punished. I thank the Lord for all He has done for me. I do want to tell the…” he died before he could finish his thought.
Feel free to leave comments on Serial Killers you would like to know more about!
That was probably one of the most disturbing things I’ve read, but I was unable to stop myself from reading the entire thing. I have a weird fascination with the gory and I think you did a really good job capturing the terrible-ness (is that a word?) of this man’s actions.
I’m still partially shocked that some people actually like this kind of thing. It’s so weird to see people not only kill a woman together but then have sex afterwards. I know that people like that are probably in the minority (at least I hope so) but my god, that’s terrible.
I’m so excited to see what you write next!
This is probably the most disturbing story I have ever heard. Like there were so many morbid and gory aspects that you can’t help but question how people actually enjoy taking part in these activities. Definitely loved the voice in the intro. It was a good transition from your personal connection to the murderer (and the mention of your book, which further proves your interest) to a retelling of the story. I really enjoyed the way you explained it in a way that appeals to everyday people who can’t handle too much gore or understand too much jargon, but still want to learn!
Well, that was definitely disturbing, but also extremely interesting and well-written. It’s hard to believe that there are people out there like Green who actually commit these horrible murders. It’s also hard to believe that Sharron didn’t do any jail time, she literally committed two of the murders with him! I also think the range of his victims is interesting, and how the murders just stopped.
I liked how you made your first blog post about a serial killer who grew up close to where you now live and who you’ve probably heard a lot of stories about, it’s a nice personal-but-thankfully-not-actually-personal connection. I also liked how you started the post with one of his quotes. I’m excited (and slightly scared) to see who you’ll write about for next week!
