The Behrend Jazz Ensemble meets on Tuesday & Thursday afternoons from 3:05-4:20 p.m. The group prepares a wide variety of selections and presents many of its performances in Bruno’s Cafe and other locations on campus. Improvisation is not a prerequisite to participate in jazz ensemble.
The group is comprised primarily of traditional big band instruments; saxophones, trumpets, trombones, and a rhythm section consisting of piano, guitar, bass, drums, and auxiliary percussion. Others are accepted on an individual basis. Permission of the director is required for enrollment and an informal audition may be necessary if student interest exceeds the instrumental needs of the group.
