Procedure for Giving Out Bids at Penn State Behrend:
In order for a fraternity or sorority to give a bid out to a potential new member at Penn State Behrend, they must first follow this process with Student Leadership and Involvement.
- The potential new member must fill out a recruitment registration form with the appropriate council at Penn State Behrend:
- For the fraternities: Interfraternity Council (IFC)
- Delta Chi
- Sigma Tau Gamma
- Triangle
- For the sororities: Panhellenic Council (PHL)
- Alpha Sigma Alpha
- Alpha Sigma Tau
- Phi Sigma Rho
- Theta Phi Alpha
- For the fraternities: Interfraternity Council (IFC)
- If a potential new member meets Penn State’s eligibility requirements for joining a fraternity or sorority, as well as the individual fraternity or sorority chapter’s requirements, the organization must extend a bid to the potential new member.
- Eligibility requirements to join a fraternity or sorority at Penn State University:
- Must have earned 14 PSU credit hours AND a 2.5 cumulative GPA OR transfer students must have 27 transfer credit hours;
- Cannot have conduct probation with a transcript notation at the time of recruitment; and
- Complete online Fraternity & Sorority Life interest session sponsored by Student Leadership and Involvement.
- Eligibility requirements to join a fraternity or sorority at Penn State University:
- If the potential new member accepts the bid, they must go to Student Leadership and Involvement to fill out their registration and sign in agreement with Penn State University’s Statement of Relationship with fraternities & sororities. Potential New Member: A student who is willing and eligible to become a member of a fraternity or sorority.
