I am Wladimir Benalcázar, I recently moved to Princeton University as a Moore Postdoctoral Fellow.
From 2018 to 2021, I was an Eberly Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Physics at Penn State University.
In my research, I work on topological phases of matter. These are quantum phases of matter at low temperatures that exhibit robust transport properties. They also generate unconventional states at their boundaries, i.e., states with properties not present in stand-alone particles in empty space. Some of the phenomena in these phases may lead to applications such as dissipationless electric transport or the delocalized (and hence robust) storage of quantum information.
I received my Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 2018.
