I have decided that I will be using the WWF ad (left) for my speech and comparing it to the whooping cough ad (right) for my Rhetorical Analysis essay.

Borders of Adventure

September7

https://www.bordersofadventure.com/blog/

This is another travel blog I feel that I can really take inspiration from. I like the layout of this blog a lot. It has many pages and tabs with different topics that make the site easy to navigate. This blog is busy, with a header, sidebar, and pictures and a few lines of text for each post, yet the white background and the way it is organized keeps it from feeling too overwhelming.

Not only do I like the way this blog looks, I also appreciate the subject matter of this blog’s posts. Most travel blogs just share their opinions and personal stories about where they found the best view, or the best way to navigate a certain destination. This blog not only does that, but also offers insight about the culture in certain countries under the “Travel Topics” tab.

This blog has much more writing on each post than Camels and Chocolate, though it still has an abundance of photos. The author’s writing is very clever and creative. The blog posts are fun and interesting to read, as a travel blog should be. Overall, I think this blog helped me to get a better idea of what I plan to do with mine.

Camels and Chocolate

Since I came home from studying abroad, I’ve been dying to get out exploring and travel more. It hasn’t been possible yet, and since I have to wait until at least finishing my freshman year, I’ll have to settle for researching and blogging about my next dream destinations!

In my search for inspiration, I came across Kirstin Luna’s blog: Camels and Chocolate.

This blog is very aesthetically pleasing. Bright, colorful photographs fill most of the homepage, and on the Places tab, the blog includes a map to the locations where all of the articles were written about. Scrolling down on this page leads to even more colorful photographs and more links of specific countries the author has been to. Using so many visuals is essential for a travel blog. Who doesn’t want to see all the beautiful and different things another place and culture has to offer?

Each particular post is stocked full of even more photos that separate small sections of text. In the blog posts, there are a multitude of different headings, describing the food, entertainment, or best sightseeing in that specific location. The basic information that the reader would typically already know about that said location is listed there, along with the author’s insider tips based on her personal experiences there.

This is definitely a blog written to express the author’s opinion on destinations she’s been to. Each post didn’t contain much writing, as it was mostly photographs, but the author wrote with a lot of emotion and conversational language. Overall, her writing was as bright as her pictures!
