Kylian Mbappe

What a name has this young man made around the world. This might be the only player capable for dethroning the title of GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) from the head of the most famous soccer player whose life we will explore in the next blog.  Kylian Mbappe is known for being one of the most fearsome attackers who’s running speed and dribbling scares most defenders in football.

Kylian Mbappe was born in Paris, France, on December 20, 1998. His parents were no rich nobles, but rather of the working class. His mother Fayza Lamari and his father Wilfred Mbappe had immigrated from Cameroon to France in a search for a better future.  This man’s talent comes from a very young age of 6, playing soccer under a club called AS Bondy, which was directed and coached by his father Wilfred Mbappe. He played for the club for 7 years and then Clairefontaine, France’s national academy for elite football players.

Joining the academy he started to get offers from reputable clubs like Real Madrid, Arsenal, and Chelsea. However, he signed in with AS Monaco at the age of 14, in 2013. He became an attacker at the club’s youth team and under 19 team. Before even becoming the age of 17, in 2015 he was able to play for their first-team, making him the youngest player ever to be able to do so. His 2015-2016 season didn’t see much action as he didn’t get to play much. He scored only 1 goal throughout the season. His 2016-2017 season, however, went much better as got to play more and scored 15 goals. AS Monaco even was able to capture the league 1 title.

After this season, in 2017, Mbappe moved to PSG, which had also signed Neymar along with him. The two made a very strong attack duo. The duo was so strong in fact that PSG won 3 consecutive league 1 (from 2017-2018 to 2019-2020) titles with them. The 2018-2019 season was especially very good for Mbappe as he scored 33 goals in it, making him the highest scorer in League 1.  His goal count never reduced since, which got him on the list player of the year honors 2 seasons in a row from 2020-2021 to 2022-2023. In 2021, PSG signed the GOAT (whose name we will reveal in the next blog, which is quite obvious now), creating one of the strongest attacking forwards. PSG won the league 1 title again in 2021-2022 with their team stacked with the most renowned players in the world.

In the 2022 world cup, Mbappe scored the most goals, more than the GOAT, who he faced in the finals of the world cup. The match was extremely tight, with France (Mbappe’s team) scoring 3 goals and Argentina (the GOAT”s team) scoring 3 goals. In the penalties, however, France lost, taking the second world cup from Mbappe’s hands.

Mbappe has currently won 1 world cup and has the potential to play 2 more. If he is able to win the 2, then he will be the 2nd player ever, besides Pele, to be able to win 3 world cups.
