Parks and Recreations is a great comedy television show, which follows the lives of the parks and recreation department of the local government of Pawnee, Indiana. One character they follow in specific in the show is Leslie Knope, played by comedian Amy Poehler. In the show, Leslie starts as a director in the parks department where she is constantly trying to fix problems and go above and beyond for what is required for her job. While her coworkers may think that she is being very extra sometimes, they know that she means well and always has the best intentions for them, the government, and the citizens of Pawnee. Since her childhood, Leslie has wanted to serve in her government, and being in the parks department has allowed her to accomplish that, but her determination to make the government would be limited in the parks department. That is why she tries her best to gain positions higher up in the government. However, the citizens of Pawnee and the current government officials can be very sexist and outdated to the times. That is why they do not like it when Leslie tries to come in with new progressive ideas to change the government for the better.

One of my favorite characters in the show is Tom Haverford, played by Aziz Ansari. Tom also starts out working in the Parks and Recreation department, but he is never really interested in the work there. He always had a passion to start a business of his own, because he is one of the most creative people that you will ever meet. Tom’s first business venture was a store called Rent-A-Swag where teens could rent out expensive stylish clothing for however long they wanted without making their parents buy the expensive items of clothing. While the business failed, in the end, it did not stop  Tom from pursuing his passion for business as he eventually opens up an Italian restaurant as well. One of the things that I like most about Tom is that he is very quirky and always coming up with a new comedic spin for the show.

All of the characters in Parks and Recreations develop a lot over the years as they all spread their roots outside of the department. Everyone in the show gets to finally do something that they are passionate about. If you wanna see a friend group that blossoms into some great people individually the show is a must-watch.

One of my all-time favorite shows, the comedy in Silicon Valley is unparalleled to any other show. Richard Hendricks starts off as a shy computer programmer in the incubator of  Erlich Bachman in Silicon Valley in California. He has the dream to create compression software for file transferring but he is always has a constant battle against the made-up company “Hooli” which mocks big tech giants like Amazon and Google.

The show starts off in the home of Erlich Bachman where he hosts an incubator for programmers to come and work on their application or software in exchange for some equity in their company. The incubator hosts many different programmers including Gilfoyle, Dinesh, Big Head, and Jian-Yang. All of them are programmers working on their unique projects trying to make their start-up successful in the arduous environment of the valley.

Richard Hendricks is an awkward guy who most likely does not know what to say or do in any tough situation. If faced with a challenge too big for him he will most likely just find the nearest trash can and throw up in it.  During his time at Erlich’s incubator, he is able to create a compression software with unprecedented speed and compression and it blows the mind of every expert in the valley. But the person that it pisses off the most is Gavin Belson the CEO of the company Hooli. Richard used to work at Hooli in order to make money while also being able to work on his project at the incubator. But once his algorithm starts to do well he quits the company but this pisses off Gavin. Now Gavin makes it his sworn duty to come after Richards company, “Pied Piper.”

Pied Piper faces many struggles along the way because while Silicon Valley may seem like a safe place for programmers to be, it is actually a jungle. Every rich person in the valley is always looking to get their hands on some new proprietary piece of technology. But that is a struggle Richard has to face if he wants to survive in the Valley because he needs to be backed by an investor but he also does not want someone that will ruin his company or sell it to someone else.

One of the best dynamics of the show is between Gilfoyle and Dinesh who bicker like an old married couple but at the end of the day, they are best friends. Gilfoyle is a dark person who doesn’t like to share much about his personal life, but one thing is for sure that he is an excellent programmer and just as good as building the hardware. While Dinesh, on the other hand, is very insecure and lets himself get bullied by Gilfoyle because that is just the way that their relationship works.

Pied Piper may have started out in the incubator of a drug addict who had no manners, but now they are a force to be reckoned with in the valley, as they take up their new project of making the PiperNet. Season 6 is just starting so now would. be a great time to start watching the show.

Michael Ross(Patrick J. Adams) did not have much going on his life after his admission from Harvard was rescinded because of something that his best friend did in college. He was living in his best friend’s apartment in New York City, while he made some money by taking the bar exam for people, and occasionally making some drug runs for his best friend who was a dealer for some extra cash. But when one of the drug runs goes wrong he someone how manages to sneak his way into an interview for an associate job for one of the top law firms in NYC. But the first thing that happens when he walks into the interview is that the marijuana from his briefcase all falls out onto the floor. Instead of snitching on Mike right away Harvey Specter(Gabriel Macht) a partner at the law firm hears him out and is quite impressed by his photographic memory and even hires him. I don’t know what is going on in Harvey’s head because he said he wanted a special candidate but no one thought he would go with someone who is not a lawyer rather someone who never even graduated college.

Main Characters

Mike joins Pearson Hardmen one of the most elite corporate law firms in NYC and has to find a way to make everyone believe that he graduated from Harvard and on top of that make them believe that he was an actual lawyer. Mike impresses everyone as he is able to retain so much information so when it comes to finding a precedent for a case Mike is the one that any of the partners at the firm would want to go to for help because he is always able to come through for them.

Since Mikes’s secret is so big it becomes increasingly difficult for the firm to keep the secret in as more and more people either figure out his situation or have to be told about his situation. One of the toughest people that they had to keep the secret from was Louis Litt(Rick Hoffman) a stubby short-tempered lawyer who is always sticking his nose where it shouldn’t be. When he finds out about Mikes’s secret he uses it to get his name on the name of the firm. Many relationships in the show are torn apart because of the Mikes secret which could potentially ruin many lives if it got out.

It is quite crazy to believe that someone with a photographic memory and a good heart is able to become an amazing lawyer. Any lawyer that comes across Mike Ross can tell how amazing of a person he is, and even see his special gift to be a lawyer.

The basic foundation of the show Rick and Morty was inspired by the characters of the legendary movie Back to the Future. In the show, the character Grandpa Rick was inspired by the character Doc Brown in back to the future who was a mad scientist and also the grandfather to Marty Mcfly who is portrayed by  Morty in the television show. In both the show and the movie the grandfathers can be seen as mad scientists who do not know the repercussions of their inventions, while their grandchildren who are nowhere as genius stick around to go on crazy adventures with them.

While Rick and Morty may seem like a childish cartoon from the outside after seeing the way the characters look, it is the complete opposite. The show is very vulgar and lewd and should not be watched by children at all. Both Rick and Morty have no filter and the writers of this show have made it their mission to make it seem like they say the first thing that comes to their mind.

While Rick has become very involved in the family’s life this past couple of years it has not always been this way. He was very absent from his family life for a very long time and was not there for his daughter Beth the mother of Morty when she was growing up. The reason for this was because one of his experiments is the reason why Beth’s mother, his wife has died and he never forgave himself for that. It, in fact, turned him into a raging alcoholic. You can see at least five times per episode Rick taking out a flask from his lab coat and taking a quick chug and most of the time you will see spilled alcohol on his face. This is what makes Rick very interesting, as even though he is supposed to be one of the smartest beings in the universe, you will most likely see him sober. My favorite part about Rick is that he can come up with a solution on the spot to any problem without thinking twice. When the going gets tough the tough get going, and that is very true about Rick. Ricks’s character development is amazing and I think that the writers should be credited for it. No matter how difficult a situation gets he is always able to come up with a solution even if it is not obvious. He always does it in style and finds time to make fun or tease his grandson Morty.

While Morty might be an unintelligent high school kid he is learning from his grandpa Rick, especially life skills that he would never be able to learn in high school. I think that the show is great because it is able to put a comedic spin on life lessons in an unusual and creative way.

If you enjoy watching cop-shows but don’t want it to be all about crime fighting and the criminals, then Brooklyn Nine-Nine is the right show for you. This American Sitcom is about the ninety nineth prestinct in New York City which faces a shift when their Captain retires and a new Captain comes into play. The show follows a group of detectives and their Captain Raymond Holt. It shows all of their struggles, their fun times, and how they have become a family over the years of working together. They all trust each other, as they would take a bullet for one another, and some of them even fall in love with each other.

Detectives in Brookln Nine-Nine 

One of the main detectives in the show is the talented Jake Peralta, played by Andy Samberg, who went unchecked with his old commanding officer, allowing him to do whatever he wanted and not follow protcol. All of that changed when Captain Raymond Holt came into the picture and started to put Jake in his place, and show him the proper way to have fun at his job but still take it seriously. I think that by the end of the show both of them rubbed off on each other, as Jake became more serious about his life and career, and Captain Holt learned to make jokes and show his emotions a little bit more.

The character development in this show is absoluetly amazing, as it was great to see how each one of the detectives in the squad gets better over the first six seasons. Jake goes from being a goofy cop with no responsibility for what his actions have to someone who understands others and is more deliberate. While Detective Amy Santiago, played by Melissa Fumero,  on the other hand was the complete opposite of Jake. She was a stickler for the rules and she would do everything in her power to make sure that she was pleasing her commanding officer. But over the course of the show she realizes that needed to be independent because if she ever wanted to be a commanding offficer she would need to be strong enough to lead other people.

I would strongly reccomend watching this show as it is a great sitcom, that has a new problem which the squad has to face every episode. The seventh season of the show will be starting in the beggining of 2020, so it would be better to catch up on the first six seasons now.

The show has had fans talking about it for almost a decade now, and the hype for the. show was at its peak earlier this year when the final season aired. The show is based on George R.R Martin’s best-selling book A Song of Ice and Fire. I think that the book series that Martin has created has allowed fans of his books to actually visualize and live out the fantasy world that Martin created.

The show takes place on the fantasy continent called Westeros, where the seven kingdoms reside, and of course the iron throne as well. The iron throne is the most symbolic chair in the show, as it is where the ruler of the seven kingdoms sits and everyone desires it. Throughout the show, many people sit in the iron throne and rule over the seven kingdoms and many of them do not deserve it at all. The problem with the iron throne is that everyone wants to rule over the seven kingdoms, and that’s why being the rule is very dangerous because many people want to either kill you or see you fail.

There also many “Houses”/ clans in the show which are fighting for territory, castles, and people to rule over. One of the main “Houses” in the show is “House Targaryan,” however, the lone survivor of the house is Daenerys Targaryan, played by Emila Clarke, who had been banished from Westeros. Her family had been wronged by Westeros as they had created a dynasty of being the ruler of all of Westeros. Therefore, she made it her mission to go back to Westeros and reclaim the iron throne which many people believe to be her birthright. Daenerys has to go through a very big power struggle especially because she is a woman and of a very young age. She has to fight for what is rightfully hers and overcomes many barriers, all while figuring out along the way what kind of ruler she wants to be.

While the show has had gained many fans and has gotten a lot of praise as the seasons went by, it did not deliver to the fans expectations in the last season. While every season 1 through 7 of the show was based on the book series George R.R Martin wrote, the last season got ahead of the books. Martin takes a very long time to write his books as they were very detailed when he tries to create these new worlds. Therefore, the writers of the show had to get creative and write their own ending to the story. Many fans did not like this ending, as it felt too rushed, there were a lot of holes in the story, and did not match up with the amazement the other seasons brought. I would still recommend anyone to watch this show with a lot of free time because it is a very long show. Even though the last season was not as great as the others, it is still a very groundbreaking and entertaining series to watch.

Daenerys Targaryen 

Living in New York City can be  an absolutely amazing place to be especially when you are in you are in your twenties and looking to have a good time with your pals and find the the love of your life. That is exactly the story that How I Met Your Mother(HIMYM) tells in its long nine seasons.

In the show the characters Ted Mosby, Marshall Eriksen, and Lily Aldrin are all based off friends of the shows co-creator and writer Carter Bay. Some of the episodes in the show tell the stories that Bay had in his apartment in New York City with his best friend and his best friend long time girl friend. I think that since Bay was able to base the show off some parts of his own life, it made the show more believeable. Especially since there are some many crazy things that can happen while living in the heart of New York City.

The show starts off with a naration by Ted Mosby telling his children way later in the future about how he met their mother, as she had passed away from cancer. Ted starts from the start of his journey in New York City and explains all the adventures and love failures he had before meeting their mother. I would say that it was very weird that Ted explained all of his sexual and illegal experiences to his children because I could never imagine my parents telling me stories as inappropriate. Ted struggles alot in his love life before finding the children of his mother. One of his problems is that he is a really big romantic and falls in love with most girls that he starts dating, but after a while they tend to no go his way. One of the worst things that happened to ted in his life is that he is left at the alter by his fiance because she gets back with her ex-husband.

One of the best characters in the show in my opinion would be Barney Stinson who was played by Neil Patrick Harris. I think that he was such an amazing character because while in the show, he played a straight man, which many people would consider to be a player, as he went home with a new partner almost every night, Neil was actually a homosexual in real life.

I would highly recomend watching this sitcom as it is a good portrail of how difficult it is to find the love of your life when your young. Even though Ted and his gang of friends lived in New York City, a city filled with 8 millon people their love lives were very difficult. The show was always very engaging as no two episodes were the same. While hard core fans may have thought that the show deserved an alternate ending, I think that it was perfect just the way it was written.
