Greece

Gods, goddesses, ancient structures, beautiful oceanic views, and a thriving culture.  Greece has everything, from historical tourism to modern tourism, there are so many destinations (popular and hidden) that are worth visiting.  I could spend over a month in Greece and still  not see everything that I want to.

To start, Greece is full of historical value.  Personally, I enjoy learning about Greek mythology, so one of the first places I would visit would be Athens.  There is the Parthenon, the Temple of the Olympian Zeus, Acropolis and all of the places to see in Acropolis.  In all of these places you can see ancient sculptures and  ruins from Ancient Greece.

Second, I would go to the more modern side of tourism in Greece.  While Santorini can for honeymooners and couples, it is still a place worth mentioning.  One of the islands in the Aegean Sea, Santorini has white houses and buildings built into the cliffs and overlooking the Ocean that surrounds it.  If you have ever seen Mama Mia, the architecture in the movie is partly based off of Santorini.

Finally, because I only can write so much on this post without overwhelming everyone, I would visit Heraklion.  The capital of the island Crete, this is a port city full of ruins and modern life.  This city also has some beaches in and surrounding it that are somewhat popular among tourists.  However, Heraklion is mainly known for Knossos, ruins full of palaces and archaeological sites.

  1. I was aware of the historical structures in Greece, but didn’t know the modern architecture was just as interesting. The buildings and houses built into the cliffside look amazing, and only strengthens my interest in visiting Greece one day. You did a great job by concisely highlighting parts of Greece, and the images are breathtaking!
