Whether its a 2 minute car ride or 10 minute bike ride, Jacobsburg State park in almost literally in my backyard. This state park is perfect for being outside in the summer or cooler temperatures. With almost 20 miles of hiking trails combined, there are endless places to explore in the woods. Its also perfect for dogs and horses; in fact, there is a horse trailer parking 2 minutes walking distance from the smaller trial head.
Not only is Jacobsburg great for hiking, it is also a fantastic field trip destination. Having recently finished building an environmental center, people of any age can come and learn about the park, nature, or historical programs. I went to the park on a middle school field trip to take a short guided tour and had a nice little picnic with all of my classmates. When I was younger, I would go hiking with my family and dogs almost every weekend. Yet, life got busier and we would rarely go anymore, making me forget that we have a state park right behind us. Now, I go there whenever I can with some friends to enjoy the exercise and cool off in the Bushkill Creek if we get too hot.
Jacobsburg State Park is a great spot to bike, hike, or just relax with a view of the forest. This summer I definitely plan to go there as much as I can to take advantage of the beautiful park right by me. I recommend for anyone who loves the outdoors and hiking!
This sounds great! I love any parks where there is a creek nearby that you can jump in to cool off. This post makes me even more excited for summertime. Nice job!
