Boston, Massachusetts

My post today will be a little different: I’m going to write about my latest trip.  On Saturday, my four future roommates and I traveled to Boston on a private jet!  One of my roommate’s (Paige) parents own the jet and for her birthday last year they said she can bring anyone to a city within an hour of flying time.  She waited almost a year, but decided to bring all of us for an amazing experience!

We left for the airstrip in State College (the same one that houses the football team’s plane) at around 8:30 and we were wheels up by 9am.  It is SO nice not to have to arrive 2.5 hours early to get through security and find the right terminal.  Once we arrived, we took an Uber to Burberry Street.  We all quickly went into this cute cafe and then set off to the Freedom Trail.  We didn’t have enough time for a tour, so we walked most of it on our own.  The Freedom Trail is a 2.5 mile long route that takes you to historically sites in Boston.  These sites were famous from the time in the American Revolution, such as the former city hall where the Declaration of Independence was first read.  We didn’t get through the whole trail, but we saw a lot of important places!

Next, we ended up at Faneuil Hall.  This is a couple blocks of stores and restaurants.  It was very crowded and there was a concert band playing for many people.  I think there was another event going on that day because there were a ton of little kids there too.  But after an hour of shopping, we were all starving and went to find some place for lunch.  We ended up going to Bostonia Public House, a very rustic, yet modern restaurant.  The food was delicious and much needed, but a bit expensive.

After that, we went to the Boston Harbor and took in some of the beautiful sites of the water and the boats.  Of course we had to take some pictures in front of the water! From there, we took an Uber back to Burberry Street for dinner: the Atlantic Fish Co. This was a very high end restaurant filled with seafood and surf and turf.  We meet up with Paige’s mom and aunt who traveled on the plane with us.  As we were finishing up, a woman came over and gave us a gift card with $60 left on it to pay for dinner! She had no specific reason behind her kindness, just that we had a big group.  We were very surprised and grateful!

After dinner, we wanted to go to Georgetown cupcake before leaving for the small airport, but the line was too long so we just went back to the cafe next door.  Our Uber on the way back to the airport was extremely nice and informational.  Did you know that Harvard is older than America? Harvard was established nearly 140 years before the America claimed independence from England!

We were all exhausted and fell asleep on the plane ride home, but it was one of the best trips I had ever taken.

I always had the idea and experience that the farther South you go in America, the nicer the people are.  However, the people we meet in Boston proved that the people in that city were just as nice and helpful.  I love the city of Boston and would go back any chance I have!  If you ever have a chance to go, I highly recommend it and, if you can, spend more than a day!  There are places for everyone!
