To follow the trend of this blog, today I will be sharing about one of my trips I took overseas with my family. For some background, my family loves to travel, my mom gets some sort of planning high when she sits down and figures out what we are going to do on trips. This is great because at the end of it she tells me minimal information about the trip, but at the same time, I do not ask. Most times when we go overseas I don’t even know the different places I am going. To me, this keeps it interesting. As for this trip, the plan was to fly into London and then take some sort of tour group called Collette which would take us to some of the prettiest sights in the United Kingdom. Along our trip, there were quite a few memories however a few stuck out to me.
Along the trip, we had one day where we would stop in Wales. The trip was beautiful, the long roads were lined with ancient stone walls that used to separate land between rival families. Due to the English Empire ruling, there are thousands of castles scattered around Wales in order to prevent the uprising of the Welsh people. One of these castles, the Ruthin Castle in North East Wales, was built in the late 13th century and in the 1600s the castle was under siege for 11 weeks before they surrendered.
There were a few survivors. In 1923 the castle was renovated to become the first private hospital for the investigation of internal infections. In the 1950s this hospital became a hotel, and we were going to stay the night. To say the least, this castle has experienced death, more death, followed by more death. If you don’t believe in ghosts, I get it but you have to admit that this was weird to sleep where soldiers laid down their lives. That entire night everyone on the tour bus has experienced something weird, whether it was a light not working but suddenly started working again, uneasy chilly breezes, and one case someone’s computer was off and they were woken by the sound of the startup noise. Whatever it was this place was haunted in my opinion, and come morning I wanted to leave so fast out of there. Overall, I loved walking around the ruins of what used to be the walls and hidden passages of the castle. If you have the chance to stay at a castle take it, make sure to check up on any available history just to make the trip a little more spooky. Thank you for reading this blog, and have a great week.
