Hello bloggers, in a time of the coronavirus I find myself disappearing away in the world of times before the virus struck this nation. With motivation running low, I am going to take some time and talk about one of my favorite vacations to pass the time. This vacation starts off in Switzerland which is home to the swiss chocolate, Lake Geneva, the Matterhorn, pocket knives, happy people, and so much more. When I say that every city in Switzerland was absolutely beautiful and clean, I really mean every word of it. The swiss take tremendous pride in keeping their nation nice and clean and it is eye-opening compared to some of the cities I have been to around the United States.
One of the stops we had made in Switzerland was at Lake Geneva. If you are a Queen lover, there is a statue of Freddie Mercury, for he loved this part of Switzerland and often said, “If you want peace of soul, come to Montreux.”The band’s song, the lake’s beauty, inspired a Winter’s Tale. If you also know the basic chords of Smoke On the Water, that song was inspired when the band, Deep Purple, woke up one morning after a late night… and called the fire department because Deep Purple thought the morning fog was actually a boat or building on fire. As a rock and roll fan, I loved this beautiful town by the lake.
Finally, we made our way to Lucerne by traveling through the scenic Grimsel Pass. Lucerne is famous for its medieval architecture and centuries-old wooden pedestrian bridge. This bridge, known as Chapel Bridge, is the oldest covered wooden bridge in all of Europe (dating back to the 14th century) and is a must-see. We walked through Old Town down the cobbled streets and through the tall painted houses. To end your day just right, stop in a restaurant for some classic swiss cheese (and chocolate) fondue. This trip brought me back so much joy from the times overseas.

Noah, I loved reading about your time in Switzerland! It honestly doesn’t amaze me anymore when people talk about other countries being way cleaner than ours. A lot of developed countries have tried to implement zero waste or limited waste societies and it is so interesting to see what the impact of that is. I also had no idea that Switzerland had so much rock and roll culture hidden in it. I personally don’t really listen to rock and roll so I wouldn’t know anyway, but it is cool to hear how much influence the city Montreux has in music. Great blog!

Man, traveling to Switzerland sounds like a blast! On top of that, the cleanliness must’ve added to the enjoyment value a lot. I mean, it’s much easier to appreciate a city when there isn’t litter everywhere. One of the things I love about Switzerland, or rather, Europe in general is the history behind it. It’s a continent bathed in historical facts, and I would love to visit there someday and just immerse myself into the culture.

Your experience in Switzerland has made me want to travel there even more! I have read about how they take great pride in keeping their country clean, and it is disappointing to see the way that we treat the environment in many places here in the United States. The culture and history of Switzerland was something that I was unaware of, but they all seem like awesome additions to an already spectacular country. Finally, I would love to try the chocolate. I cannot imagine that any chocolate I have ever had compares to what they sell!

I have traveled throughout Europe various times but have never made my way to Switzerland although I have been desperately wanting to–reading your post makes me want to visit even more! I like how you combined your personal experiences with the history and culture of the cities you traveled to. Don’t forget your in-text links!

I have always wanted to go to Switzerland! As you had stated, I find it fascinating how they maintain such a solid reputation for their cleanliness and beauty. If I ever get the chance to visit the country, I would probably take the same approach as you and tour as much of the beauty and history as I could. Just thinking about it makes me want to visit Switzerland even more than I had before.
